What you’ll learn

LO1 — Apply reliable patient-identification principles using at least two approved person-specific identifiers and recognize high-risk identification situations.
LO2 — Deliver concise, clinically prioritized SBAR communication that accurately conveys Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation/Request.
LO3 — Conduct safe handovers that transfer essential information, uncertainty, action plans, contingency plans, responsibility and accountability, with receiver acknowledgment and opportunity for questions.
LO4 — Use closed-loop communication, check-back/read-back and confirmation protocols to reduce errors involving verbal information, orders, critical results and urgent instructions.
LO5 — Adapt identification and communication safely for GCC multilingual, multicultural and high-risk environments while using interpreters, local policy, documentation and escalation appropriately.
